The Charlestown Jazzband, uit Nijmegen, de stad waar Keizer Karel de Grote in de 7e eeuw heeft gewoond. Snapt U?
In de loop der jaren zijn er natuurlijk wat wisselingen geweest maar het hoge muzikale niveau is altijd gehandhaafd.
De band streeft naar een gezellige interactie met het publiek en dat alles gelardeerd met plezier en humor. Door een breed en gevarieerd repertoire is hun muziek toegankelijk voor vele Jazz- liefhebbers. Een van de redenen dat het orkest veel gevraagd wordt. In binnen- en buitenland.
Bv.in de 80er jaren van de vorige eeuw in Italië, Oostenrijk, Brunel en Noorwegen.
Recentelijk ook in Zwitserland, Denemarken en Engeland en niet te vergeten Duitsland, Mallorca, Madeira, Belgie en Czech Repulic.
Maar natuurlijk is de band ook nog steeds in Nederland een graag geziene gast in vele Jazzclubs en op Festivals

The Charlestown Jazz Band come from Nijmegen, the place where King Charles the Great lived in the 17th century. Do you get it?
Of course, over the years there have been some changes, but the high standard of their music has always been maintained.
The band strives towards an enjoyable interaction with the audience, where everything is laced with pleasure and humour.
Their wide and varied repertoire appeals to many jazz lovers. One of the reasons why they are often requested both at home and abroad. For example, in the 1980’s last century, in Italy, Austria, Brunel and Norway and more recently in Switzerland, Denmark and England, and not to forget Germany, Majorca, Madera, Belgium and the Czech Republic.
Of course, the band is still to be seen in the Netherlands and is a welcome guest in many jazz clubs and festivals.
