Southern Pearl Jazzband
The Southern Pearl Jazz Band is een jazzband met een oude ziel en jonge geest. Wij bestaan uit 7 personen tussen de 28 en 35 jaar. Opgegroeid met het Breda Jazz Festival, (en als kinderen van bekende Bredase jazz muzikanten als Harry Kanters en Adri Baan) hebben wij ons laten inspireren door de Classic Jazz stijl. We spelen nummers als ‘Moten Swing’ in de Count Basie stijl, ‘Puttin on the Ritz’ in een arrangement van de Pasadena Orchestra, maar ook typische Dixieland nummers als ‘That’s a Plenty’.
De band wordt vanaf dag één begeleid door Harry Kanters, die ook alle fantastische arrangementen schrijft. We timmeren sinds 2013 hard aan de weg en inmiddels hebben we diverse optredens gehad, waaronder op het Breda Jazz Festival, het Jazz Festival Enkhuizen, Jazzclub JASZ in Middelburg, Jazzclub Zeist, het JazzBoZ in Bergen op Zoom en Jazz by the Sea in Domburg.
The Southern Pearl Jazz Band is a jazz and that has an old soul but is young in spirit. The band is made up of seven players with ages between 28 and 35. The band grew up with the Breda Jazz Festival (and as children, from famous jazz musicians such as Harry Kanters and Adri Baan) we are inspired by the Classic Jazz style. We play numbers like “Moten Swing” in the Count Basie style, Pasadena Roof Orchestra arrangement of “Puttin’ on the Ritz” but also typical Dixieland numbers like “That’s a Plenty”.
From day one, the band has been led by Harry Kanters who has also written all the fantastic arrangements. We have practiced hard since 2013 and have recently had different performances including: Breda Jazz Festival, Enkhuizen Jazz Festival, JASC jazz club in Middelburg, Zeist Jazz Club, JazzBoZ in Bergen op Zoom and Jazz by the Sea in Domburg.
