Porto Cabello
Porto Cabello is een snarenkwartet bestaande uit viool, twee gitaren en contrabas en speelt afwisselend gipsyswing en traditionele zigeunermuziek.
De muziek van Porto Cabello is recht door zee, eerlijk, sentimenteel, bruisend en raakt de mensen diep in het hart.
Men waant zich in de jazzkelders van Parijs anno 1938 , en dan weer op een woonwagen in de Karpaten.
De naam Porto Cabello is afkomstig van een van de latere titels van de grote Belgische Sinto topgitarist en componist Django Reinhardt die de Sintimuziek en de jazz bij elkaar bracht in de jaren ‘30-‘40 van de vorige eeuw.
Porto Cabello is a string quartet comprising violin, two guitars and a double bass who play both gipsy swing and traditional gipsy music; a music that is straightforwardly honest, sentimental, and rousing deeply touching peoples’ heart.’
One can imagine themselves in the jazz cellars of Paris in 1938 and again in a caravan in the Carpathian Mountains.
The name Porto Cabello is derived from one of the titles from the great Belgium Sint top guitarist and composer, Django Reinhardt, who, in the 1930s and ‘40s, brought Sinti music and jazz together.
