Jazz Focus bigband
De Jazz Focus bigband is vernieuwd! De prijswinnende jeugdbigband wordt sinds september 2019 geleid door Lorenzo Mignacca. Hij zet de missie van de ‘godfather van de Amsterdams Jazzscene’, Peter Guidi, voort. De 20-koppige bigband zit barstensvol muzikaal talent en brengt de jazz echt tot leven. Onder Peter Guidi speelde de Jazz Focus o.a. op het North Sea Jazz Festival, de Amsterdamse Uitmarkt, in het Concertgebouw, en zelfs op festivals in San Sebastian en Budapest. En nu, met hun mooie klanken, indrukwekkende noten en spetterende solo’s, heeft de Jazz Focus bigband onder Lorenzo Mignacca op het Prinses Christina Concours in 2019 én in 2021 de eerste prijs gewonnen! Verder heeft de band gespeeld op het Nationaal Big Band Concours, en mag de band in 2022 optreden in Luxemburg en mogen ze weer naar het North Sea Jazz Festival!
Het repertoire van de band zit vol invloeden die reiken van Thad Jones, Cole Porter, Buddy Rich, Mancini, en Sammy Nestico tot de modernere jazz van Gordon Goodwin en Michael Bublé en de funk van Tower of Power en Incognito.
The Jazz Focus Big Band is renewed! The prize-winning youth big band has been led by Lorenzo Mignacca since 2019. He keeps continuing the mission from “the Godfather of the Amsterdam Jazz scene, Peter Guide. The twenty-member big band is packed with talent, bringing the jazz really to life.
Under Peter Guidi, Jazz Focus has played at the North Sea Jazz Festival, the Amsterdam Uitmarkt, in the Concert Hall and even and even in festivals in San Sebastian and Budapest.
And now, with their beautiful sound, impressive notes and rousing solos and under the musical leadership of Lorenzo Mignacca, the Jazz Focus Big Band won the first prize at the Princess Christina Concours in 2019 and 2021.
The band has further played at the National Big Band Concourse, performing in Luxemburg in 2022 and again at the North Sea Jazz Festival!
The repertoire of the band is full of influences that range from Thad Jones, Cole Porter, Buddy Rich, Mancini and Sammy Nestico to the more modern jazz of Gordon Goodwin and Michael Bublé and the funk of Tower of Power and Incognito.
